Captain Christopher J. Sullivan, 29, of Princeton, Massachusetts, died January 18, 2005, in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his parked vehicle. Sullivan was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Army Captain Christopher J. Sullivan was a protector and always tried to keep his family and friends from worrying, often telling them the situation was not as grim as it appeared in Iraq. Derek Russell, a Hollis Center native and member of the Coast Guard, died Dec. 22, 2012 after a hiking accident in Kodiak, Alaska. He was 20 years old. Russell was a fireman aboard Coast Guard Cutter Munro. FN Russell left the base in Kodiak around 10 a.m. Dec. 22 to hike the nearby Barometer Mountain. Coast Guard crews along with other rescuers committed hours to searching for him after he did not return to base. Offiicals say FN Russell slipped on a trail, fell more than 500 feet and died instantly. His remains were recovered three days later, on Christmas Day. Russell attended… Read More

On April 15, 2017, Baerbel LoSacco, Alley Smith and Sarah Greaney participated in Tough Ruck 2017, a marathon distance ruck, partnering with the Boston Marathon. The course transverses Minuteman National Historical Park, the site of the opening battle of the American Revolutionary war.
