SUMMARY:150 Mile Memorial Ruck Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:For the past 6 years\, our Executive Director has put his heart and soul into the ever-important work of honoring our fallen heroes. His efforts are in support of a vision that our mission will outlast all of us here at TSP and continue long into the future. In time\, his desire is to extend this TSP mission to many other states across the country which do not have such a solid support network for our Gold Star Families as we do here in Maine. We are coming to you\, our TSP family\, in hopes that you can help him as he takes these efforts to the road intending to accomplish just that.\n\n\nOn Oct 2nd\, Greg will begin an 11-day\, 150-mile trek from the summit of Cadillac Mountain to the summit of Mt. Katahdin in order to raise awareness of all the important work our team does in support of our fallen heroes and their surviving families\, as well as raise money in support of providing financial sustainability of this organization for many years to come. Please help us raise awareness of all his efforts and spread this message far and wide. With your help\, we can help him accomplish everything he has sought out to do.\n\n\nHis goal is to raise at least $50\,000 to help fund the future of this organization. Please consider making a donation to this cause. This means a great deal to us all here at TSP\, and we truly appreciate anything that you can give in support. Some heroes make the Ultimate Sacrifice with their lives. \nMarine Corporal Dustin Libby was killed in action on December 6\, 2006. This event is to dedicated to carrying on Dustin’s legacy. \nThe Cpl. Dustin Libby Memorial Challenge will be held on Saturday\, September 21\, 2019 starting at the Mapleton Elementary School. \nThe Cpl. Dustin Libby Memorial Challenge features a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run\, 5K Run/Walk\, and 10K Run on farm field and tarred roads. At the height of fall potato harvest season\, and at the beginning of fall foliage season\, the town of Mapleton will be bustling.  At the families request\, all proceeds will go to the Mapleton Recreation Department. Dustin Libby at a Remembrance Hike in his Honor. \nThe hike will begin an hour before sunset\, with everyone hiking together to the top of Haystack Mountain. We will not drop any hikers\, ensuring we all arrive together safely. Kids and pets are encouraged\, with animals on a leash. The hike can take between 15 and 20 minutes to ascend. \nOnce at the top\, we will take in a Northern Maine sunset\, honoring Cpl. Libby and remembering his sacrifice. \nPlan on bringing a warm jacket and head lamp for the descent. SUMMARY:Ellsworth Elks Lodge Honor Case Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Event Type: Public\nPlease join us at a ceremony on September 11th at the Ellsworth Elks Club to honor the 2\,977 men\, women and children killed in the attacks at the World Trade Center site\, the Pentagon\, and aboard Flight 93.  Among those honored are the first responders who valiantly fulfilled their duties to serve and protect and ultimately lost their lives on that day. \nAs part of the ceremony The Summit Project Honor Case will be unveiled as it begins its two month stay at the Elks Club on display.  Within the case are the memorial stones of 22 Maine service men and women who lost their lives while serving their country.  One of whom\, Navy CDR Robert A. SUMMARY:7th Annual Aaron Henderson Memorial Softball Tournament/5k Run
DESCRIPTION:Event Type: Public\nFrom August 9th thru 11th\, 2019\, friends and family of the late Army SFC Aaron Henderson will come together in his honor to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation with a weekend softball tournament and 5k race in Houlton\, ME. SFC Henderson lost his life in the fall of 2012 while serving in Afghanistan. DESCRIPTION:Event Type: Private\nFounded in 2010 the Ruck to Remember’s mission is to empower our nation’s heroes\, coming home carrying with them the wounds of war\, while forever HONORING & REMEMBERING those heroes that sacrificed all. \nThe Ruck to Remember is an annual event that occurs over Memorial Day weekend with two events (distances) that make up our Mission to Honor and Remember what Memorial Day weekend is about. \n60 to 60 \nIs an intense\, grueling 60 mile team hike\, done with a hiking backpack / military “Ruck” sack and all your required gear (est. 30 lbs) over steep rugged terrain and down through the historic WO&D Trail of Northern Virginia as the mission continues on\, moving to the Iwo Jima War Memorial to link up with the Final Miles Team In all completing a 60 mile journey of Remembrance.  (Sign up for this portion of the event is closed.) \nThe Final Miles \nIs the critical 6 mile movement\, beginning at the Iwo Jima War Memorial\, Memorial Day morning\, then down through the National War Memorials.  The teams move as a team\, in formation\, representing the strong force of our Military and camaraderie of those who have served.  The movement itself is the show of force that serves to Honor and Remember all those that sacrificed all\, as the movement moves over Memorial Bridge and into Arlington National Cemetery.
