The Summit Project and The Maine Army National Guard and The Maine Marathon
1 October 2013 — Portland, Maine.
Some very exciting news coming for The Summit Project this weekend. The Maine Army National Guard, under the leadership of SFC Timothy MacArthur, has expressed interest in carrying all of our memorial stones during the Maine Marathon Tribute Hike, this Sunday, 6 October, 2014, in Portland, Maine! That is a 26.2 mile forced march in combat boots carrying our stones. What a tremendous honor! This will be the FIRST tribute movement of the stones, a burden that others have volunteered to bare — all to preserve the spirit and memory of our fallen Heroes from Maine. Thank you SFC MacArthur and the MEARNG. Maine Heroes are NOT forgotten!
From the Maine Survivor Outreach Services office in Augusta, Maine – Today is the Maine Marathon Tribute March. Servicemen and women in uniform and with a full ruck will march the route of the marathon to honor our Maine Fallen and to remember the service and sacrifice given. Some of these men and women will carry the stones of “The Summit Project” that MAJ David Cote has collected from the families of our fallen heroes.
