For the 15th year, Kennebec County Sheriff Randy Liberty led a group of veterans and their families on a march through the streets of Maine’s capital. This year, some very special cargo went along on the trek.For the 70 veterans and their supporters, the day began at the Maine Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Capitol Park in Augusta before the sun came up. The group embarked on a nearly six mile hike carrying Summit Stones, each representing a Maine fallen hero in the global war on terror. The stones come from all over the state, many from places that are near and dear to the soldier and their loved ones, and are engraved with the names of the soldiers they honor.
