Stone Assignments
*
I acknowledge that there are only TWO locations where stones will be distributed to bikers for transport in the convoy; the ELKS Lodge in Portland, and Dysart’s Truck Stop in Hermon.
ALL bikers who transport stones will be expected to LEARN about the hero, LAUNCH on the segments of the ride in a safe and responsible manner, and write a post-event LETTER back to the Gold Star Families on the TSP website.
Letters are due NO LATER than two weeks post-event. We cannot stress just how much the families look forward to reading about YOUR experience!
Due to the usual high volumes of requests, we cannot accommodate individual hero requests at this time.
ALL stones MUST be “returned” to the TSP family at the post-ride ceremony at NEOC. You must inform TSP Leaders as soon as possible if you accidentally forget to hand over your stone upon the conclusion of the convoy ride.
Only one tribute stone will be permitted to each rider for escort at this event.
NEW Meal Plan at NEOC!!!
*
I acknowledge the meal plan option as described below.
Meals tickets will be available for purchase for $25 each. Visit "TSP at BSP Motorcycle Convoy - Meal Ticket" web page listed under the "Events" tab of website to purchase yours after completing this form. Meal tickets will NOT be available at NEOC.
The Primary Mission -- This is what The Summit Project is all about!
I get the big picture. Community. Sacrifice. Respect. Solidarity. Teamwork.
*
Tribute stones of The Summit Project event are symbols of solidarity that recognizes the burden shouldered by our brave Maine service members and their families. I promise to help reinforce the values of The Summit Project and the values of Mainers -- we look after one another, we remember one another, we make sacrifices for one another, we are faithful to each other and we lift each other to higher places – both literally and figuratively.
Learn about your assigned fallen hero BEFORE the convoy
*
By checking this box, I promise to learn about the fallen hero that is represented by the stone I will carry. Before I carry a stone, I promise to memorize my fallen Maine hero's name, rank, service branch and hometown. I promise to learn something about his/her service, his/her character and try to make a connection to my own life and the lives of others. I promise to tell others about this brave Maine hero, so future generations of Mainers can be inspired by his/her service and ultimate sacrifice. As I carry this tribute stone through the convoy, I will reflect on the life of that fallen hero, dedicate this movement to him/her. Finally, I will help spread the word of The Summit Project to ensure Maine heroes are NOT forgotten.
Post Ride Reflection Letter to the Family of the hero you honored --
*
I agree that after carrying a tribute stone for The Summit Project and learning about my fallen hero, that I will write a short letter and post that letter on the TSP website under the individual hero's page – in the comment section. I agree to share my experiences on the ride and how I honored and sustained the memory of this fallen Maine hero. This is a VERY important, and sometimes forgotten requirement. Please DO NOT forget. This will be my responsibility to post no later than two weeks after the ride is completed. I promise that I will write this reflection letter and post within the given timeline.
Thank You!
Thank you for supporting The Summit Project and our BSP Motorcycle Convoy over Memorial Day Weekend! Ride Safe. Focus on the mission! See you in May and thank you for ensuring that Maine Heroes are NOT Forgotten! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email Executive Director, Greg Johnson, at greg@thesummitproject.org.
