April 21, 2014 — Today I am part of The Summit Project living memorial. Later this morning, I will carry the legacy and memory of fallen Maine hero — LCpl Joshua Bernard of New Portland, Maine through 26.2 miles of the Boston Marathon. Months of physical and mental preparation culminate today — I will carry Josh’s service on my heart, his smile on my face and his dog tags around my neck. I will tell everyone about the “saver lifer” he was. Pain is temporary. Pride is forever. To Josh and his family — thank you. djc
