The memories of fallen Maine Heroes — 1stLt James R. Zimmerman, SGT Joel A. House, SPC Jason E. Dore, SGT Lawrence A Roukey, SFC Aaron A. Henderson, MSgt Ryan C. C. Love, and Army Spc. Thomas J. Dostie were honored and sustained over St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Boston when a team from New England carried The Summit Project Stones through a 24+ hour ordeal call the GORUCK Heavy (GRH). The GRH is a 24+ hour Special Forces inspired team building endurance challenge, led by Special Forces individuals. In this case it was Cadre Dan and Cadre Logan, two-well seasoned Green Berets who provided the “motivation”.
GORUCK Heavy class 028 (to include TSP at BSP 2014 Katahdin hikers Mike O’Brien and Ted Coffin) completed their event in 24 hours, 37mis, a bunch of other “good livin.’ Amongst another 1,500lbs of other stuff were 50lbs of The Summit Project stones. Toward the end of the event the team took time to review each individual’s life who was represented. From one of the members of that challenge – “This picture of us holding the stones was after a 24-hour challenge. Thank you for the inspiration and more over thank you to your loved ones for their sacrifice.”
We thank this team for being party of The Summit Project living memorial — all to ensure that Maine heroes are NOT forgotten. Congratulations to this GO RUCK Heavy Team, and their leadership for completing a very physically and mentally challenging event, but also honoring and sustaining the memories of our fallen heroes from Maine.
