On April 15, 2017, Baerbel LoSacco, Alley Smith and Sarah Greaney participated in Tough Ruck 2017, a marathon distance ruck, partnering with the Boston Marathon. The course transverses Minuteman National Historical Park, the site of the opening battle of the American Revolutionary war.
As the 3 of us set out on the 26.2 mile course with hundreds of others, we carried with us the stones and stories of 3 Maine Fallen Heroes.
Baerbel LoSacco carried the memory and stone of MAJ Jay T. Aubin, a United States Marine, who died in the line of duty in Kuwait on March 20, 2003.
Alley Smith carried the memory and stone of CPL Joshua P. Barron, a United States Marine, who died on March 21, 2011.
Sarah Greaney carried the memory and stone of CPL Mark R. Goyet, a United States Marine, who died during combat operations in Afghanistan on June 28, 2011.
We rucked for those who couldn’t, carrying with us the memory of those 3 Marines as well as the memories of many others who have given their all for our freedom and security.
Baerbel Bönisch LoSacco and her team embarked on a marathon distance ruck, the Tough Ruck, down in Massachusetts, honoring our Fallen Service Members, Police, Firefighters and EMTs. She finished in memory of all those who gave their all in the line of duty! She carried the story and memory of Major Aubin in the form of his The Summit Project memory stone as well as the memory of CPT Cash and CPL Hutchins. Let’s do this thing!
Tough Ruck 2017 is in the books and it was AMAZING in a twisted, painful, inspiring and humbling way! I rucked 27 miles carrying 35 lbs in about 8 h 20 min, carrying with me the memorial stone of Major Aubin as well as memorial ribbons for CPT Cash and CPL Hutchins. We truly rucked for those who couldn’t! So blessed to participate in this event with some amazing, strong women! I’ll ruck with you any day, Catherine, Alley, Sarah and DeAnne!
